From Guangzhou to Tremont!

Follow Beverly's journey from China to the United States as she joins our family in Tremont for the 2008-09 school year. We'll use this blog to help our friends and family get to know her, and to keep her family updated on what is happening in Tremont!

We need a badminton coach!

Beverly plays badminton in China and wondered if we play here ... and I told her that it is more of a casual lawn game than a serious game, at least in this area. So I told her she was going to have to teach TJ and Abby how to play it right!

Here are TJ and our neighbor on the driveway attempting to play tonight (note without a net OR shoes) ... as you can see, it may take many, many lessons! :-)

Abby was chasing lightning bugs at the end of the video, but didn't do much catching. Beverly, I'm not sure if you have them in China or call them by the same name. Sometimes they are also called fireflies and they have a yellow "light" that glows at night.

I'm actually impressed with their volleys. Better than we are! (Badminton is big in Malaysia too. We were there for 4 months in 2001)

Volleyball is more of a special training kind of sports. We don't even know how to play volleyball coz schools here don't usually teach that. But we have a badminton team which was quite good. (I'm also a member in it.HAHA)

Well, Physical Education at Tremont spends several weeks on badminton (as well as volleyball and many other "common" sports ... so she can just show everyone how it's done!
